PUPPY CARE

The following items should be purchased by new puppy buyers:

Dry and canned puppy food (Solid Gold Hundchenflocken puppy kibble)

Adjustable buckle puppy collar and a leash

Nail clipper

Styptic powder (qwik stop)

Comb (greyhound comb, fine/medium teeth and a tiny comb for toe knots)

Slicker brush (soft or puppy)

Ear powder (Bio groom is the best brand)

Ear cleaner - liquid - at least one bottle of non-alcohol based

Q-Tips and cotton balls – you should already have at home

Dr Scholl's sells small bags of lambs wool for foot care - a small plug placed in each ear works a LOT better than cotton balls at keeping water out during bathing

Eye stain wipes

Bitter apple chew deterrent

Dog Shampoo (tearless, puppy shampoo)

Carpet spot cleaner

Poop pick up bags for walks

Toys - small kong, squeaky latex, stuffed toys will eventually be disemboweled, no rope toys, no tennis balls

no-pull halter if desired although halters will cause matting of the coat

Food bowls, ceramic or stainless steel, no plastic

Crate – adult size 300 airline, or approx 24 inches tall – some metal crates come with dividers, which are great for training puppies in a smaller area while they’re little

Pooper Scooper for the yard cleanup

Dremel mini-mite for nail grinding - this makes nail care MUCH easier (Walmart, Target, etc)

Baby Gate (I like the ones that open with one hand) baby gate tip

Hemostats  straight, non locking for pulling deep ear hair

Dog bed if desired - Bedlingtons enjoy Perla beds which are easy to clean and they can snuggle in them,

or donut type soft beds - something with a bolster to lean against

Treats (Charlee Bear treats are excellent training treats)

Crate bowl for water (coop cup)

MORE Toys - remember, the pup with the most toys wins

Grooming Equipment you might want for grooming your own dog:

Clippers – can get re-built, Andis or Oster

Blades: #40 (get 2), #15#, 7F, 4F

Scissors: 8 ˝ inch straight, Monks are a nice brand

Grooming table w/arm and noose

Fluff dryer, stand or metro air force canister dryer

Gold Bond powder, Dermasol gel, Aftershave –  Dermasol, Nivea for Men - Sensitive Balm with Chamomile & Vitamins- something to relieve the after shave itching

Eye Stain remover (All-Systems Miracle Whitener)

Additional combs and slicker brushes
