Four weeks later, Sunny looked like she swallowed a watermelon...

Tuesday July 26, 2005 Sunny delivered her puppies between 4 am and 11 am.... she needed an emergency c-section to remove a final puppy. Sadly, that puppy was dead when they delivered it and the veterinarian couldn't revive it.

I bottle fed the babies while Sunny was in hospital, and recuperating afterward. Slowly she's resuming her maternal duties. Her cousin Roxy, who had a litter of four pups three weeks earlier has come to visit with her brood, and she is helping with the nursing and cleaning duties. I still bottle feed to supplement both bitches. I don't want to impact their health with this heavy burden either.

This is the puppies' godmother Barb. She helped bring them into the world, take their first drink of mother's milk, and has been with them all the way. She has helped feed them, helped them pee and poo, cleaned their furry little bottoms, and now is making sure they all know that they're adorable and well loved. I don't know where we'd have been without her - she has my undying thanks!
