Around The World...

My first Bedlington Terrier's sire was a Swedish import of Linda Miller's, Ch Isotop's Storm Warning.  Stormy was small, typey, and had a distinctively crisp coat. It was clear that for a breed with such a small gene pool as Bedlington Terriers, import and export would be crucial for genetic diversity.

In 2004, my half Swedish dog Ch Jewelbox Diamond Jim was bred to BIS/BISS Ch Silvery Moon Unforgrettable. Greta had Australian kennel Piperdene lines behind her, and I saw this as an opportunity to obtain a genetically diverse dog with the qualities I valued in my own dogs. The  resulting offspring, handsome Ch Boardwalk Ticket to The Moon has had a strong influence on the Ashcroft dogs of today.

In 2005, I did an outcross breeding with Sandon 'N' Oakhill Bedlingtons, and was asked to sell a puppy overseas to Sandy And Blue's Bedlingtons in Vasteras, Sweden. Victoria Lidsell acquired Ashcroft Lucky American Dream, (Elvira). She in turn was bred to a Swedish-English pedigreed male, Toolbox The Bachelor, to produce AKC Ch Sandy And Blue's Silvia Of Sweden CA (Vicki).

Vicki gave me a diverse line from my foundation line based on the four Wrightwyn sisters, and I continued down that  path by breeding her to Mult Ch Isotop's Xcellent Friend (Mr Bingley) who added more Swedish and British bloodlines to the mix. That breeding produced Ch Ashcroft Xcellent Surprise (Prix), a specialty winners bitch and GCH Ashcroft Xemplar RATCH4 (Brandon). Both Prix and Brandon have a more "English" coat, crisp and dark, are small and typey, but with more angulation than the British dogs I've seen on video.

Prix was bred back to Ch Ashcroft Talk Of The Town (Marquis), from one of my favorite litters, to produce the lovely mult Group Winning, NOHS BIS/RBIS GCh Ashcroft Mystic Red Sky At Night (Lily), also a UKC BIS Ch, and BOS at the Montgomery County KC show...

In 2014 I was approached by Ninna Odehag, of Kennel Notice in Sweden about purchasing a dog for import. Ninna had worked for Margery Good of Goodspice Kennels fame for several years. It was a great compliment that she came to me for a dog from the USA. I had kept two brothers from the Wedding litter, an outcross litter to KayLynn Bedlingtons' handsome GCH Ch Kaylynn's Party Crasher, a Westminster KC BOB winner. With slightly different strengths, the brothers were both too nice to send to pet homes and be lost to the breed. After considering what I needed, and what Ninna was looking for, we agreed that Ch Ashcroft Wedding Singer, a lovely blue & tan male, would go live in Sweden at Kennel Notice. Ninna flew over and picked up Singer in late June of 2014. Two months later, she won Best of Breed at the World Dog Show in Finland, going on to make the final cut of 8 terriers in the group! It was an auspicious start to what has been a very successful career for Ninna and Singer. He was the #1 Bedlington Terrier in Sweden in 2017, and #4 Terrier overall in the Swedish KC standings- BISS USCH CIB NORDUCH SEUCH NOUCH FINUCH WW-14 NORDW-14 NO W-16 SE W-14-15-17 Ashcroft Wedding Singer.... Now he is starting to make his mark as a sire for her, these are some of his international offspring.

Bred to SW Ch Notice Picture Perfect in 2016, Singer produced:

Notice Space Oddity, Bowie, staying at Kennel Notice

Notice She's Got Medals, Mary, exported to Switzerland

Notice Modern Love, Svea, living in Australia

Bred to Secret Style's Show Stopper, Singer produced:

Notice Ironman, Fionn, exported to Ireland

Bred to SW Ch Notice Picture Perfect in 2015, Singer produced:

Notice Pure Seduction, Tango, exported to Poland

Notice Sensual Blush, Flicka, exported to Finland

Notice Such A Flirt, Thilda, stayed in Sweden at Kennel Isotop's

Notice Strawberries 'N' Champagne, Bubbel, stayed in Sweden and is owned by Sofia Lindh of Vindaloo Afghan hounds

Singer was the top ranked Bedlington Terrier in Sweden in 2017 and 2018.

In 2015, when my litter from GCh Ashcroft Wedding Crasher x Ashcroft Talking 'Bout My Girl was born, Ninna inquired about a female from the litter.  As the girls developed, one stood out as a likely prospect for export. Ninna made a quick trip across the ocean to pick up Ashcroft Notice My Awesomeness, Bliss. A lovely, small sandy female, Bliss should be a nice complement to some of the larger Swedish males, giving Ninna opportunities she might not have had with a bigger bitch. Bliss will also be the junior handling dog for Ninna's son Milton. Bliss finished 2017  as SEUCH FINUCH Ashcroft Notice My Awesomeness, the #2 Bedlington Bitch in Sweden .

2018 saw a lovely son from GCH Ch Ashcroft Mystic Red Sky At Night x GCH Ch Ashcroft Xemplar RATCHx move to Japan. Kazumi Abe imported AKC pointed Ashcroft If You Just Smile. Kazumi has a grooming shop, and amazing grooming skills. She did Smile's show trim, and Smile went out with a professional handler and earned a Group 2. In October 2019, owner groomed and handled, Kazumi and Smile won BEST IN SHOW and Reserve King, to finish his Japanese Championship.

Late in 2019, I hope to import a puppy (or two), to increase the genetic diversity of the breed here in the USA.
